Following Up from Our Last Newsletter: Spreading the Kindness Pandemic
Did we create an ODA infectious pandemic?
Well, not quite—but we’re off to a great start!

Leng and his fancy moves join the kids
our very kind response inspired Leng and the kids to throw an epic disco breakout! And guess what? Leng, who usually watches from the sidelines, couldn't resist the fun this time. To the kids' delight, he joined in and danced off some Khmer disco moves! Note: tip for volunteers: In Cambodia, speakers come with two settings—OFF and FULL BLAST. So, bring your earplugs if you value your hearing!
Inspiring July Thought of the Month from TED Talk’s Chris Anderson
Generosity is at the Heart of Being Human
A simple act has the power to change the lives of so many (in our case, kids).
Thank You to Our New Monthly Donors!
First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to those who answered our call and signed up for monthly recurring donations of $10 +. You are the heroes helping to lighten the load and keep our mission alive. While we haven’t reached the "Kindness Pandemic" proportions we dreamed of yet, your very kind response is a significant step in that direction
A Gentle Nudge with a cheeky grin.
To those still on the fence, consider this a gentle nudge
(with a chuckle!).
Imagine if just half of our newsletter subscribers donated $10 a month—Leng might just have to throw another disco, and who knows what dance moves he’ll break out next! The kids would be over the moon, giggling all the way.
Congratulations to Our Top Students
ODA Central students who were in the top 3 in their classes recently
Proud Lengs and his wife wife Sry On, Ry Mereack, Cheat Kanhapich, Run Manith, Phan Phasoka
Happy Ry Mereack topped her class
Remember, most of our kids didn’t attend school before coming to ODA. This is a huge achievement. Great job, kids! Leng is also immensely proud of those who have improved their personal best scores from the last exam. These students are thrilled to attend school daily and are putting in their best efforts.
Volunteers Reflections
Like many of you, I live in a country of plenty. To many it’s easier to dispose and replace than repair and reuse. And what do we do if we don’t have whatever it is we need? We simply go out and buy it or sit at home and wait for Amazon to deliver.During a few weeks of volunteering at ODA’s rural schools I saw many situations where the want or need was fixed with ‘use what you have’.
In all of these situations and many more, using what you have did not diminish the fun or pleasure.
I venture to say that the resourcefulness possibly enhanced it.
Thank you for being part of our journey and for spreading the kindness,
and to the fence sitters…
Let’s give Leng a reason to break out in his epic
Viral ‘Generosity Pandemic’ Disco Dance
and crack all the kids right up.
That would be a pic and a half, wouldn’t it???
